Privacy at Vouga

Information you provide

Google sign-in provides a verified email and account identity. Vouga stores the display name, optional personal details, pet information, care records, files, community contributions and private conversations you choose to enter. Optional fields can be left blank. Avoid including private information about other people without permission.

Private care and deliberate sharing

Pet records are available to authorized members of that pet’s pack. Care invitations grant access only to the pets and role you select. Community posts, comments and the separate community profile are visible to eligible signed-in members. A private pet photo or Google portrait is not automatically used as your public community portrait.

Direct messages are between their participants. PetGPT conversations belong to the requesting account; sharing pet care does not give another care member access to your private AI chat.

AI processing

Before sending an AI message, Vouga asks for your agreement to send the indicated information to OpenAI. Pet conversations use the pet’s available background and conversation history. You can preview that background and choose whether to include optional relevant personal details. General conversations without a pet use the chat’s messages, without saved pet or personal-profile background.

Structured street address, postal code, email, age, marital status and advertising preferences are excluded from pet-chat background. Free text you enter can still contain personal information. Check your notes and messages before sharing them with AI. Provider processing is also governed by that provider’s terms and policies. Vouga does not promise a provider-specific retention period here.

Why information is retained

Vouga retains submitted information to provide saved records and conversations, support shared care, maintain correction history, protect accounts and investigate abuse. Changing or removing an item from the current view can preserve earlier versions and related records. Signing out or requesting account closure does not itself erase stored information.

Retention depends on the information, shared-care relationships, security and legal obligations, and applicable removal rules. A fixed service-wide deletion deadline has not been established. Export and account-closure requests are recorded for review, with their status shown in Profile. These explanations do not limit rights you may have under applicable law.

Browser storage and service providers

Sign-in uses session cookies. Text draft recovery in this browser tab is available for up to 24 hours so refreshes do not lose your work; processing consent and selected files are not saved with those drafts. The browser can retain stored text until its tab storage is cleared or you sign out. Signing out clears your account’s draft storage. Hosting and storage providers process information needed to operate Vouga.

Your choices

Edit your information and public profile in Profile. Manage discoverability, followers, messaging, read receipts and notification preferences independently from pet-care access and AI agreement. Personalized advertising is not currently available.

To request a copy of your information or a review of account closure, open Profile → Your information → Your account and data. Requests do not provide access to another member’s private conversations or personal details.

Changes

This page will be updated when information practices change. Any new use of private inputs for model training or other materially different purposes requires its own clear notice and appropriate permission; this page does not grant blanket permission for that use.
